Expos & Seminars

June 8th, 2008

Recently we produced a very small run of ‘name cards’ for a client breaking into the coffee market. Glenn Watson who is soon to launch http://5Mcoffee.com had a requirement for some quality name cards for a seminar he was attending.

To stand out from the crowd Glenn wanted something classy and noticeable and selected us to provide a plastic version of his name card. This along with some horizontal clear card holders and some safety breakaway lanyards completed the professional look. Post event the feedback was extremely positive and we must thank Glenn for the opportunity of being of service to him.

Further to the supplied product, we must also thank Glenn for the time and effort he has given to us in various topics…not least the setting up and instruction to us on how to blog

Many thanks Glenn for all your help and support and we wish you well with your soon to be launched venture

National Identity Card

May 29th, 2008

Immediately it has provoked some sort of reaction BEFORE you even begin to read this blog!

The government has been toying with this idea for what seems like an eternity with vocal and sometimes heated debate raging on both sides - the ONLY question that really needs answering is “what will it achieve”?  or is it??

Part of the debate about the introduction of a national Identity card is that people assume it will be like big brother watching you - What people do not realise is that they have been carrying around a form of national Id card for many years……………

Firstly the introduction of a National Insurance Card - this is unique to you not unlike the proposed ID card

Photo Driving Licence - each year more and more people have to replace their tatty or lost/stolen old paper licence for a nice shiny photo type……again, not unlike the National Id card

So WHERE exactly does any plausible argument lie?  Big Brother is watching you?  NO - the United Kingdom has more CCTV cameras per head of population than any other country so at any point within any given day, unless you are housebound you WILL be viewed by a camera at some point

The majority of the argument appears to lie with the post war baby population.  Many older folk are more than happy for people to have an ID card - this obviously aids their own feeling of being safe and secure in their own homes……..after all we certainly advocate that ALL visiting companies no matter how big or small should produce a verified company photo ID card.  The younger generation having grown up in an electronic age also seem content about having a national ID card - after all they are the generation more at home with credit cards than cash!

So, WHAT exactly would the introduction of a system achieve?  Difficult to say for certain.  Certainly it would improve the conviction rate of criminals - particularly if a fingerprint biometric system were favoured….now where can the harm be in that - unless you are planning the next gold bullion raid - NOTHING

Imagine what benefits it could bring…. Id fraud would be virtually non existent, In theory you would only ever need to carry one card around with you as opposed to the 10 or 12 on average we currently do to make any purchases………….Walk into any high street shop, pick what you wish to purchase, hand it over at the till along with your Id card…….swipe your fingerprint and out the funds go from your bank account…no carrying lots of plastic or cash………..BRILLIANT!

There are obviously a host of serious issues that in all honesty are too contentious for a blog………….this is purely intended to make you think………..

Plastic V’s Paper

May 28th, 2008

You join us here at a very exciting point in the game….who will be victorious in the plastic V’s Paper battle?

Yes, very light hearted, but it also has a serious message

Would YOUR business benefit from switching to plastic cards

There are several arguments in the plastic V’s paper debate, the main being cost!  People are surprised to hear that our plastic business/loyalty/membership cards start from only 15p!!

Although slightly more expensive then the paper equivalent, what businesses need to take into consideration is the various bonuses that plastic cards have over paper

Longevity - How many times have you searched through your wallet looking for a business card only to find it tatty, dog-eared and almost illegible?  Not with plastic you won’t!  Plastic cards have a continual life usage of approx 3 years; this means as a business card it will last a lifetime.

Impression - Why not create a lasting impression when you’re next networking or attending a seminar/meeting?  As a businessman, I get tired of being handed normal run of the mill, sometimes awful business cards - Stand out from the crowd and press home your advantage by giving them a plastic card.

Green Issue - Granted, You can now buy recycled paper products and even elephant pooh paper these days, what isn’t taken into consideration is the longevity of a plastic card compared with paper.  If you add up the amount of paper cards and the reprint issues against the plastic option, there isn’t a great deal of difference in the green footprint….plastic cards after all can be shredded and laid in play parks and such like.

Uses - Plastic can be utilised in a greater variety of environments…for example, you wont find your paper products much use if you live or work in or around the marine industry…same goes for the likes of a plumber, wet hands and paper don’t mix too well.

This is just a small insight into the plastic V’s paper world……questions will continue to be asked and hopefully the above has answered some of those for you already?

We at www.pvcprinting are always too happy to answer any quires you may have regarding any printing issues and hope we can look forward to being of service to you soon

www.pvcprinting.co.uk enters the blog age

May 27th, 2008

Although trading for approaching 4 years www.pvcprinting.co.uk has never posted a blog. We thought it high time this changed and with immediate effect we will attempt to blog regulary

Firstly a little background about us.

www.pvcprinting.co.uk is a small business located in Grantham in lincolnshire. We print predominantly onto credit card sized plastic although we also undertake both digital and litho printing commissions.

Our products range from a very basic business card / loyalty card or membership card with prices starting at 15p to company photo Id cards at £2.60 each with our latest product called the ‘keeper card’.

What is a keeper card we hear you ask….well, over 80% of the population carries a photograph of a loved one, a pet or simply something special to them. this is generally tatty and worn and well past its best…we at www.pvcprinting.co.uk will reproduce any photograph you own onto a credit card sized piece of plastic that will fit neatly and snugly into your wallet or purse

This product has a continual life use of approx 3 years and as such when placed in a wallet or purse will far outlast that old photograph you currently have. these items are not expensive and cost only £2 ea or 3 for £5…why not try them…we think you will love them.

watch out for our next blog……………… “How safe is your School”
